Meijer Park
|
* Outdoor: 'Crete
* Pay: $5
* Trannie / Street
* Rating: Pre-fab Foundations
There are times as we produce this site that we're inclined to lie - or just generally tell stories that lack facts, etc. This is not one of those times. We could come up w/ some bullshit history about how Meijer Park was funded by a super rich, 60-year old porn star named Boom-boom Betty that just "wanted to do something special for the community" - but that's not true, so we'll stick to the truth on this one.
Update: Since this review was originally published, we've received a bunch of feedback. Here's some REAL info:
"Meijer Park is a huge skateboard park [19,000 sq ft. concrete area, plus a full size hockey rink with ramps on it]. I manage the place and have skateboarded since '86. We definitely have a good vibe here and we are always improving the park. The ledges you see in the one photo below we built ourselves."
"It costs $5 to get in and you can skate all day. We have monthly contests that are super-fun, noncompetitive get-togethers. We welcome all skateboards, fruitbooters, and friends. No bikes or scooters."
