Uff. Santa Clarita park - 12,000 sq. ft of "nice try," completed back in Mar '98.
Here are a few of the things that are wrong w/ this park: 1.) Too small, 2.) The bottom half of the park is built on hill [that's bad], 3.) The smaller fun box has no run up or run out, 4.) The quarter has virtually no deck at all, and finally, 5.) The coping - ahhhhhh!!!
Talking w/ the original designers of this park, we hear this is one of those "designer v. the contractor" fowl-ups. While this design was probably never perfect, a lot of the trouble zones in this park may be indications of a butcher-job by the contractor... experience is everything!
There is some good news in this review. The Site Design Group [480.894.6797], designers of such worthy projects as Chandler, AZ, have been contracted to come in and fix this place. That's pretty amazing.
"We are doing a re-construct/refurbish to Santa Clarita. Basically we are going to make this park much better. Have you seen the current coping? (ugh... metal curbs)."

We couldn't have said it better ourselves...
There aren't too many other options nearby, but if you're ready to drive, here's what we got: Simi's SkateLab, Vans Bakersfield, and Camarillo. Out in Ventura you've got Hobart park and SkateStreet. There are also parks in Palmdale, Glendale, Northridge and a new park in Encino to consider...
Directions: Coming from L.A. take Interstate 5 north to the Valencia Boulevard exit, make a right [east]. Continue on Valencia, crossing MacBean Pkwy and Bouquet Cyn, at which point Valencia becomes Soledad Cyn Rd. A few miles down Soledad you'll hit the interestion of Reuther/Golden Triangle where you'll make a right and cross the railroad tracks [look for the signs]. Make another right on Golden Valley Rd and head up the hill for approx. 1/2 mile. The park is up there, way the hell in back of some warehouses.
