Okay, Ripon skatepark... everyone's new favorite Cali park, right? Only problem w/ Ripon... when it gets crowded, it gets deadly. But good news is, if you just drove all the way to Ripon from SF [for instance], and you're bummed on the crowds, you can always grab a little slash and smash at Livermore on your way home!
Livermore - if it wasn't living in the shadow of rippin' Ripon - would actually get good marks all on its own. It's actually a little like Truckee's park [we haven't posted those pics yet, so you'll have to take our word for it!]. If you know your skatepark heritage, you might be interested to know that this park - like Truckee - is another Wormhoudt production [831.426.8424]. That alone should assure you that the design is gonna be nice.
To be honest, we didn't get to ride this one - so you'll have to send in your comments and we'll post! Until then, here are your local recommendations and alternatives: First there's Ripon... then Alameda, Crocker in SF, Grand Prix in Sac. Other local parks include Modesto, Visalia, and Dublin - hopefully we'll get those pics up soon. A little further away you've got Rosa, Petaluma, and Healdsburg. Finally, you've got the corporate party down at Vans Milpitas.
Quick Shout Out: If you're looking to hook up some gear, we met some cool guys down at Skate and Ride. If you snap a board/kingpin or something, give them a call - 925.606.4262. And if your cellio is outta juice, just stop by 2188 Railroad Ave. Tell 'em SK8parkLIST sent you!!!
Directions: Livermore is located between San Francisco and Modesto. Coming from Oakland, take Interstate 580 east. Take the N. Livermore exit, and stay to the right when the exit forks. Make a right [south] from the exit onto N. Livermore Avenue, and hang a left [east] onto to East Avenue. Make a right [south] onto Dolores Street, and a left [east] onto Pacific. Pacific Ave. empties into the skatepark's dirt parking lot.
